QuestionIs human-made storage (e.g., a reservoir) possible for this resource?
Select Options1 No storage possible, 2 Storage possible, but not used, 3 Storage possible and used
Unit
Role
ImportanceStorage facilities may allow resource users to compensate for variabililty in resource flows; this in turn may encourage planning for sustainable resource use (Schlager et al. 1994). Storage facilities can also help sequester potentially damagin pollutants.
Definition

The existence and use of human-constructed storage facilities where resource units are retained for potential future use, or sequestered for long-term storage. Human-made facilities also involve and are defined by the use of particular technologies (reservoir vs. tank storage of water in irrigation systems).
