Morena’s research focuses on improving conservation decisions using insights from the social sciences, and on marine spatial planning. She has experience working in Australia, Fiji, Solomon Islands and Brazil and in partnership with numerous government organisations and NGOs. Morena has published widely on the social dimensions of conservation, on challenges of implementing conservation actions and how they can be better designed to maximize their cost-effectiveness while achieving multiple objectives. She also helps organise an environmental education project which has reached over 17 000 children in Brazil to date.
